Site Managers Safety Training Scheme.
The SMSTS event covers all relevant legislation affecting safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture within the workforce.
On a construction site there will be an appointed organisation that take on the responsibility for all work within that site they are called the ‘Principal Contractor’. A member of this company will be allocated the role of the Site Manager.
The Site Manager will be an experienced person with the correct skills, knowledge, along with the training to be able to manage all construction activities at their location including site security.
This includes but not limited to:
Ensuring that all work on a construction site is carried out safely and in compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.
Making sure work is completed on schedule and within budget.
Developing and maintaining a project plan, which includes a timeline for completion, resource allocation, and budget management.
Managing a team of workers, including subcontractors.
Coordinating all site activities to ensure that work is completed efficiently.
Scheduling work, assigning tasks and monitoring progress.
Ensuring that each worker knows how to work safely and without risk to their health and have absolute understanding of the organisation’s rules.
Coach, help or guide them to become and remain competent in these areas, as well as others.
Ensure they know who is working on the site, and it is their responsibility that each individual knows of all potential safety hazards.
Investigate accidents.
The actual SMSTS course is delivered over 5 whole days.
If applying for a SMSTS Refresher, this event lasts 2 days.
The duration of each day will be from 0900 – 1630, with breaks during this period.
The qualification of the CITB SMSTS course lasts for 5 years.
SMSTS course is a demanding event during the five-day course you will be involved with ‘Assessed Exercises’ and at the end you will take an exam.
The instructors at HCS Safety Ltd, are CITB approved professionals who have the knowledge and experience to deliver this training at the required level. They will support, train and guide all of the students through the process. During the course you will be allocated all the resources and booklets you require to pass the course.
Students can make things so much easier, if you have a good preparation plan. Practice SMSTS exam questions are available online.
Don’t underestimate the course, you will need to dedication and study.
Do the homework – A homework book is issued on the course.
Get involved with the exercises, be an active participant ask questions.
