Ian Ball
DIRECTOR
Ian joined with Zoe in 2000 to form HCS Safety. He brings a wealth of experience and technical expertise to our construction clients and those who need assistance with their CDM duties. Ian has been working in the industry since 1975. Ian retired at the end of 2018 but still plays an active role in the company.
Zoë Drew

Director
Zoe joined with Ian to form HCS Safety in 2000. Her principal role is meeting new clients and developing strategies to grow the business. She is also the lead author for most of our training courses including the NEBOSH National Diploma. Zoe has been a member of IOSH since 1999.
Simon Hayman
MBE
OPERATIONS MANAGER
Simon joined HCS Safety in June 2019 as Operations Manager after 35 years in the Royal Navy. He has a vested interest in every aspect of HCS Safety Ltd, holding a background in Equality and Diversity and HR processes.
Sara Lyons
SENIOR ACCOUNTS ADMINISTRATOR
Sara deals with the company finances and ensures the consistent running of the company in terms of the invoicing, budgeting and reporting to Directors. Sara has been with HCS Safety since our early days and has seen us safely through many changes along the way.

Tom Webb
Marketing Specialist
Tom joined in 2023 after moving down south and completing his digital marketing apprenticeship. He brings his experience in business and IT from his previous job at a software company. Tom spends his time working behind the scenes on campaigns, websites, emails, and administration.
Olivia Wardle
Senior Training Administrator
Olivia joined HCS Safety in 2016 and works with our clients to book training courses, both in house and open, as well as ensuring the smooth running of our courses behind the scenes.
Hayley Mason
Front Of House
Hayley works behind the scenes ensuring that our classrooms and Tutors are prepped to run our courses and our breakout areas are organised, clean and welcoming.
Matt Wardle
Consultant Support Specialist
Matt is a professional photographer that joined HCS Safety in March of 2024 and brings with him over 25 year of experience in litigation and customer service. Matt works with our clients and advisors to book inspections, training courses, as well as reconciling accounts.

Drew Underwood

Senior Health & Safety Consultant
Drew has been with the company since 2011. He spends his time providing safety services including CDM support, full audits and fire risk assistance. Drew is one of our most senior tutors; he teaches on the NEBOSH Diploma and Certificate courses amongst others and is a respected mentor for our trainees.
Dave Hilton

Dave has been employed in Health and Safety since 2007, joining HCS Safety as a Health and Safety Advisor in 2018. He can be found undertaking workplace and site inspections as well as teaching our CITB courses.
Karen Fanner

Health & Safety Consultant
Karen has been with the company since 2017 and joined us from a mechanical and electrical contracting background. She spends her time looking after the needs of her membership clients and conducting regular workplace inspections. She also tutors a number of our courses including IOSH, for which she is a registered trainer.
Alec F. J. Arnold

Health & Safety Consultant
Alec originally joined HCS Safety in 2018 and re-joined from Cala Homes in 2024. Alec has worked in the construction industry throughout his career, starting as a craft apprentice, then as a manager, before becoming a health & safety professional in 2001. Alec regularly undertakes site inspections and workplace audits, whilst also teaching a variety of courses including NEBOSH, IOSH and CITB.
Lauren Mayhew

Lauren joined HCS Safety in 2017. She brings experience from a construction background working within a shop-fitting company as a Health and Safety Coordinator prior to HCS. She spends much of her time carrying out site inspections, completing RAMS and looking after the health and safety needs of her membership clients.
Nicky Jenkins

Nicky has a background in the scaffolding industry, having worked in the health and safety team for a national industry leader before joining HCS Safety in 2017. She spends much of her time carrying out site inspection work and looking after the needs of our member clients.
Sara Quayle

Health & Safety Advisor
Sara joined HCS in 2019, having been a health and safety trainer for the past 14 years working within many different industries including military, construction, railway and power generation. Prior to this Sara served for 13 years in the Royal Navy. She looks after our member clients as well as carrying out site audits, inspections, risk assessments and imparting her extensive knowledge in the classroom.
Rob Keeley

Rob joined HCS in 2020 with experience in a variety of training areas including confined spaces, emergency rescue and recovery. Rob delivers a wide variety of training courses at HCS Safety as well as undertaking consultancy with Member Clients and attending site safety inspections.
Joe Younger

Joe worked in the health & safety field for seven years before joining HCS in 2017. Retired from the United States Marine Corps after 22 years of honourable service, Joe now has a wealth of experience of health and safety within nuclear energy, manufacturing and construction.
Jason Dance

Jason joined HCS Safety in June 2021 bringing with him many years of training experience, as well as health and safety experience in the retail industry, both in the UK and Europe. Jason spends his time ensuring our member clients receive excellent levels of customer service as well as conducting annual review meetings, site inspections and teaching a wide range of our training courses.
Nathan Tizard

Nathan had been working in the leisure industry for ten years before joining us at HCS. He brings experience from a management, safety and training background working within a leisure centre as a Duty Manager and RLSS UK Trainer Assessor. He spends much of his time carrying out site inspections and client work. Nathan is also one of our Scaffold Inspection tutors.
Keiran James

Kieran has several years’ experience working within the construction industry in the oil and gas sector. He recently made the transition to Health and Safety after completing his NEBOSH General Certificate. Much of his time is spent working with the HCS Advisor team and looking after the needs of our Member Clients.
Nicole Timbrell

Nicole joined HCS Safety in 2022 after sitting her NEBOSH General Certificate with the company, which ignited her interest in Health and Safety. You will see Nicole on-site inspections, supporting our member clients. Nicole is currently working towards becoming a NUCO First Aid for Mental Health trainer.
Poppy Young
Health & Safety Advisor
Poppy joined HCS Safety in 2022 after sitting her SMSTS with the company to bolster her construction industry experience. You will regularly see Poppy undertaking site inspections, supporting our member clients and delivering training.
Alex Drew
Trainee Health & Safety Advisor
Alex joined HCS Safety in 2019, from a customer service background at IKEA. Initially Alex was employed as Consultancy Support Specialist and has now moved into the role of Health and Safety Advisor. You will meet Alex on-site inspections, conducting annual reviews and supporting our member clients.
HCS Safety achieved Investors in People status on 16th February 2016. We maintain this standard for the benefit of our staff and customers.
