The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 are far reaching and significant for anyone who has a role to play in a construction project: Clients, Designers, Principal Designers, Contractors or Principal Contractors. This is essential to understand the new duties , notification requirements and documentation. Big changes in the legislation from CDM 2007 mean that a good understanding is essential.
The course will give an overview of the origins of the legislation, the reasons behind the changes and the objectives of the Regulations, also examining the relationship between the duty holders and the need for cooperation between Principal Designer and Principal Contractor. Domestic projects are also included within the scope of the new regulations so the course also analyses what these changes will have on small builders who tend to work for private clients as well as those involved in commercial work.
Who is the course designed for?
Everyone involved in construction projects including Clients (including domestic clients), Designers and Contractors. The changes to these Regulations are significant and so it is of vital importance that you are aware of your new duties under the law.
Many involved will have additional duties, particularly contractors working on smaller domestic projects, who may find themselves holding the duties of a Principal Contractor and designers who may find themselves appointed as Principal Designer.
