RQF/CQFW Level 3 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
It is not impossible but do not underestimate this course. It will require work on your part. Since the change to the new syllabus, there have been good pass rates for the open book exam (NG1) while many learners have been referred for the practical assessment (NG2) as this is a pass or refer. It is not graded i.e. no pass mark, and learners must meet the requirement in every criterion in order to pass.
There is no expiry date for the qualification, however, if you hold a professional membership (such as IOSH or IIRSM) you will be required to do CPD to maintain your membership. Likewise, if you are working in health and safety in the workplace, it will be necessary for you to keep yourself up to date.
11 taught days in the classroom, 1 revision day, 24 hour open book exam plus 2 weeks to complete a practical assignment. You have 5 years in which to complete the qualification and can re-take element as many times as necessary if you do not pass it.
You do not need experience, but it all helps as does any other health and safety training you may have undertaken.
